CISCO Announces 2013 Scholarship Winners

With more than 125 applicants to choose from, CISCO’s staff and Board of Directors had the unenviable decision to choose 5 winners for the 2013 CISCO scholarship awards.

Congratulations goes out to the following students who will receive their awards at CISCO’s 25th Anniversary Luncheon on Friday, April 19th at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Schaumburg:

Caitlin McCully - Lincoln-Way North HS – 4-year scholarship.

Benjamin McManamon - Whitney Young HS – 4-year scholarship.

Amanda Roszkowiak - Barlett HS – 2-year scholarship.

Kevin McIntyre - Lincoln-Way East HS – 2-year scholarship).

Ryan Treacy - Laborers Local #4 - Continuing Education scholarship.

HB 3636 Signed Into Law

We, at CISCO, are happy to report that Governor Quinn signed HB 3636 into law on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 4:15 pm. The Governor, according to those who were at the bill signing, commented how important this legislation was to the Illinois construction industry, and was happy to put his signature on the bill. He went on to praise the efforts of Senator Mulroe and Representative Kelly Burke for their efforts, and commented that the two demonstrated the importance of having good sponsors on legislation.

Many thanks have to go out to both contractors and representatives of the Building Trades, who worked tirelessly and stayed committed to see the Cypress Creek decision overturned. This is another example of how positive results can be attained when both union labor and management work together on an issue!

The law goes into effect immediately. Thank you again for all of your efforts to ensure that HB 3636 became law.
